Advances in Glycobiotechnology, 1st ed. 2021 Advances in Biochemical Engineering/Biotechnology Series, Vol. 175
Coordonnateurs : Rapp Erdmann, Reichl Udo
This book reviews the latest trends in glycobiotechnology, it offers an authoritative discussion about future directions of glycoengineering, and it provides a comprehensive overview about the current and emerging approaches to identify, quantify and characterize glycosylated proteins.
Divided into 14 chapters, the book outlines recombinant glycoprotein expression in mammalian cells, insect cells, yeast, and bacterial systems. It covers the chemical and enzymatic syntheses of glycans and glyconjugates, and addresses the impact of glycosylation on protein function for the development of biologicals including vaccines. In the final chapters of the book, readers will discover more about the state-of-the-art in glycomics, glycoproteomics and glycan array technologies.
Professor Udo Reichl is a Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society, Director of the Bioprocess Engineering Department of the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg and Chair of Bioprocess Engineering at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg. He has profound expertise in the development and optimization of cell culture-based viral vaccine production. His group developed sophisticated analytical tools to monitor process dynamics, metabolism of cell lines, infection dynamics and the glycosylation of viral and recombinant proteins. His list of publications comprises more than 250 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, and he has filed various patents.
