Flow-induced vibration in engineering practice (Advances in fluid mechanics, vol. 31)
Langue : Anglais

Flow-induced vibrations are complicated flow-structure interaction phenomena that may have disastrous effects. The poor understanding of these can lead to severe damage, which, apart from economic loss, may even claim human lives. Although not so spectacular, flow-induced vibrations of tube banks in heat exchangers or nuclear reactors may result in the damage of installations and the loss of power-generating time. A large number of papers regarding flow-induced vibrations are being published in journals and presented at conferences but these are often too complex for background reading or design purposes. Providing a compilation of the salient points of various flow-induced vibration mechanisms this text is suitable for both newcomers to this challenging field as well as experienced researchers and practitioners.
