Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy in Medicine, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2019

Langue : Anglais

Coordonnateur : Shukla Ashutosh Kumar

Couverture de l’ouvrage Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy in Medicine

This book examines various applications of electron spin resonance spectroscopy (ESR) in medicine, covering topics such as interactions between blood and nanoparticles, physical intricacy of HbNO complexes, parasitic diseases, oxidative stress measurement, polymerization of resinous materials used in dentistry, tooth dosimetry and dermatological applications.

Instead of providing mathematical details, it focuses on the applications and data interpretation of ESR as an emerging tool.

This book is intended for students and researchers interested in the field of ESR applications in translational research and medicine.

Introduction.- ESR measurements of nanoparticles and their interaction with blood.- ESR applications in the study of parasitic disease.- Measurement of oxidative stress using ESR spectroscopy.- Radiation sterilization of pharmaceuticals and ESR studies.- Cancer Diagnosis and monitoring using ESR spectroscopy.- Applications of ESR  in the study of neurological disease.- ESR spectroscopy for skin and hair research.- Low frequency ESR dosimetry of teeth.

Ashutosh Kumar Shukla obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc. and D. Phil. degrees from the University of Allahabad. His doctoral research work involved using electron spin resonance spectroscopy and optical absorption spectroscopy to investigate transition ion doped single crystals. He has been a university teacher and researcher for more than 17 years and is currently an Associate Professor of Physics at Ewing Christian College, Allahabad, a University of Allahabad institution. He also served as an Associate Professor (Pure and Applied Physics) at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur, C.G. (A Central University).

Dr. Shukla has successfully completed research projects in the area of electron spin resonance Electron funded by the University Grants Commission, the apex body of higher education in India. He has visited different countries including U.S.A., U.K., Germany, Spain and Russia to present his work at international events. He has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes and has edited various volumes. He has delivered several invited lectures on characterization techniques at national and international conferences and workshops. He reviews manuscripts for a number of international journals.

He has received numerous scholarships and fellowships, including National Scholarship, Scholarship of Ministry of Higher Education, Government of U. P., Research Fellowship of the Council of Science & Tech., Lucknow, U.P., Research Fellowship of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi and the Indian National Science Academy-Bilateral Exchange Fellowship.
