Couverture de l’ouvrage Algae
This exciting book presents diverse applications of microalgal renewable resources to meet modern demands for energy and value-added products. It also comprehensively describes the role of algae in sustainable and cost-effective wastewater treatment strategies, and highlights the latest research on, advances in and biotechnological relevance of algae in the areas of bioenergy, bioremediation, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and green economy. The book addresses gaps in the fields of bioenergy, waste management, health and economy by providing broad information on bioenergy production, management strategies, drug development, nutraceuticals products and biobased economy using algae at the commercial level. The book introduces researchers to key and emerging innovations in the field of algal biology research and will assist policymakers, environmentalists, scientists, students and global thinkers in defining sustainable developmental goals for the future. Accordingly, it is an extremely important read for researchers and students in the environmental sciences, life sciences and chemistry, experts in the energy sector and policymakers alike.

Dr. Sachin Kumar Mandotra is a distinguished researcher in the field of algal biology and biofuels. He completed his PhD in Biotechnology at the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute jointly with SHUATS Allahabad, India. During his doctoral and postdoctoral studies, Dr. Mandotra published a number of research papers in respected peer-reviewed journals. Currently, Dr. Mandotra is working as a DSK Postdoctoral Fellow (UGC, New Delhi, India) at the Department of Botany, Punjab University, Chandigarh, India, where he is exploring various aspects of algal bioenergy production.

Dr. Atul Kumar Upadhyay is a scholar in the Environmental Sciences. He completed his PhD in Phytoremediation and Constructed Wetland Technology at the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow jointly with Kumaun University, Nainital, India. Dr. Upadhyay has published 15 research papers in peer-reviewed SCI journals. He has also published a book on phytoremediation and edited a book from Springer Nature, Singapore. Currently, Dr. Upadhyay is working as a DSKPDF (UGC, New Delhi, India) at the Department of Environmental Science, BBAU, Lucknow, India and investigating various aspects of sustainable phytoremediation and bioenergy production.

Prof. Amrik Singh Ahluwalia (PhD-BHU) is currently the P N Mehra Chair Professor (Former Chairperson and Coordinator, UGC-DRS program) at the Department of Botany, Panjab University, Chandigarh. With more than 38 years of research and teaching experience, he has published over 100 research papers in national and international journals and 45 book chapters, and has authored and edited several books. His research interests include algal and cyanobacterial diversity, cellular differentiation, allelopathic interactions, nutraceuticals, biofuels, biofertilizers, environmental phycology, Azolla biology and climate change. He has served on various comm
