Interaction Techniques and Technologies in Human-Computer Interaction

Langue : Anglais

Coordonnateurs : Stephanidis Constantine, Salvendy Gavriel

Couverture de l’ouvrage Interaction Techniques and Technologies in Human-Computer Interaction

This book offers a thorough exploration of interaction design, by examining various technologies, interaction techniques, styles, and devices. It:

  • Provides a deep understanding of the diverse ways humans interact with computer technologies, and guides readers in selecting the most suitable approach for various interactive scenarios.
  • Introduces cutting-edge interaction techniques, including multimodal and gesture-based interaction, wearables, haptic, speech and sound-based interaction, embodied interaction, and more.
  • Presents advances beyond traditional interfaces to large and multi-screen interactions, proxemics, brain-computer interfaces, affective computing and Extended Reality.

Individuals interested in human-computer interaction research and applications will discover new ideas and practical solutions in this title.

1. Interaction Styles. 2. Multimodal Interaction. 3. Input, Output, and Interaction Devices. 4. Large and Multi-screen Displays, Proxemics, and Interaction in Public Spaces. 5. Haptics and Tactile Interaction. 6. Gesture-based Interaction. 7. Speech Interaction. 8. Sound-based Interaction. 9. Motion, and Animation in UX Design. 10. Interaction with Wearable Technologies. 11.Tangible User Interfaces and Interaction with Physical Objects. 12. Emotion Recognition and Affective Computing. 13. Interaction Design for Augmented, Virtual and Extended Reality Environments. 14. Brain-Computer Interfaces.
Postgraduate and Undergraduate Advanced

Constantine Stephanidis, Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Crete, is Founder and Head of the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Laboratory, and Founder and Head of the Ambient Intelligence (AMI) Programme of the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (ICS-FORTH). From January 2004 to November 2016, he served as the Director of ICS-FORTH. Since 2016, he is a distinguished member of FORTH. He has published more than 600 articles in scientific archival journals, books and handbooks, proceedings of international conferences, and workshops related to the fields of his expertise. He has been engaged as the Scientific Responsible in more than 150 European Commission and nationally funded R&D projects and RTD contracts in areas of his competence.

Gavriel Salvendy is a University Distinguished Professor at the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Central Florida and founding president of the Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine of Florida. He is also professor emeritus of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University and Chair Professor Emeritus and Founding Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tsinghua University, Beijing, P.R. China. He is the author or co-author of 587 research publications including 327 journal papers and is the author or editor of 57 books. His main research deals with the human aspects of design, operation, and management of advanced engineering systems. He is the founding editor of two journals: The International Journal on Human-Computer Interaction and Human Factors and Ergonomics in Manufacturing and Service Industries. He was the founding chair of the International Commission on Human Aspects in Computing, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
