Electrochemistry of N4 Macrocyclic Metal Complexes (2nd Ed., Softcover reprint of the original 2nd ed. 2016) Volume 1: Energy

Langue : Anglais

Coordonnateurs : Zagal Jose H., Bedioui Fethi

Couverture de l’ouvrage Electrochemistry of N4 Macrocyclic Metal Complexes
This new edition describes the state of the art regarding molecular catalysts such as MN4 metal complexes, like porphyrins and phthalocyanines. This volume focuses on the particular case of the electrocatalysis of the reduction of O2for practical applications in fuel cells and air batteries. Indeed, active and stable materials have been developed in the last 5 years where MN4 catalytic systems can be obtained by the pyrolysis of starting materials that do not necessarily involve MN4 complexes. These latter systems constitute a new class of stable and highly active non-precious metal catalysts for ORR that can replace expensive Platinum containing electrodes. The book also offers future projections and points out new fields of research and development of these non-precious metal catalysts.
Section 1: Electrocatalysis
  1. Oxygen Electroreduction on MN4 Macrocyclic Complexes
  2. Heat Treated Non-Precious Metal Catalysts for Oxygen Reduction
  3. Non-Noble Metal (NNM) Catalysts for Fuel Cells: Tuning the Activity by a Rational Step by Step Single Variable Evolution
  4. Application of Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) to Study Electrocatalysis of Oxygen Reduction by MN4-Macrocyclic Complexes
  5. Theoretical Aspects of the Reactivity of MN4 Macrocyclics in Electrochemical Reactions
Section 2: Photoactivation
  1. Metalloporphyrins in Solar Energy Conversion
  2. Photoelectrochemical Reactions at Phthalocyanine Electrodes
Fethi Bedioui is currently at Chimie Paris Tech. Jose Zagal is currently at Universidad de Santiago de Chile.

Offers insight into the applications of MN4 macrocycle complexes in electrocatalysis for energy applications, especially air batteries and fuel cells

Discuses solar cells based on MN4 metal complexes

Discusses the rich and reversible redox chemistry of metal complexes of MN4-ligands which allows them to serve as mediators in many electron transfer reactions
