Mr Haytham Al-Khaffaf, MB, CH.B, FRCS has been a Consultant vascular surgeon in East Lancashire hospitals NHS trust since 1996. He completed his vascular training in Manchester and has a special interest in carotid surgery and vascular access for haemodialysis. His research interests are;  prevention and management of Steal syndrome in haemodialysis access, vascular access surveillance and effects of dialysis access on cardiac function, Carotid endarterectomy technique, Litigation claims in vascular surgery, Vascular Complications in IV drug users, DVT in arterial surgery and Vascular complications in endurance athletes. 

He wrote the book 'Vascular surgery, a Handbook for nurses' in 2005. He has made over 100 presentations in national and international societies and published over 60 papers. Mr Al-Khaffaf’s professional membership includes the General Medical council, the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Vascular society of Great Britain and Ireland (VSGBI), the European society of Vascular and Endovascular surgery (ESVES), the Vascular access society (VAS), and the Vascular access society of Britain and Ireland (VASBI).

Professor Mohamad Bashir is based at Velindre University NHS Trust and Health Education and Improvement Wales – Vascular & Endovascular Surgery. He holds a Visiting Professorship at the University of South Wales and a Professorship in Cardiovascular Clinical Research at the Institute of Coronary & Advanced Aortic Diseases at SIMS Hospital which is one of the largest and most dedicated Aortic Diseases Management Centres in India. He is also a Clinical Professor of Cardiac Surgery at Shahid Rajaie Cardiovascular, Medical & Research Center in   Tehran – Iran.
Professor Bashir graduated from Kaunas University of Medicine, Lithuania in 2000. He completed his general surgical training in 2005 and became a member of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Ph
