Advances in South American Micropaleontology, 1st ed. 2019 Selected Papers of the 11th Argentine Paleontological Congress Springer Earth System Sciences Series

Langue : Anglais

Coordonnateurs : Cusminsky Gabriela Catalina, Bernasconi Emiliana, Concheyro Graciela Andrea

Couverture de l’ouvrage Advances in South American Micropaleontology

This book offers many examples of calcareous microfossils and describes a new microfaunistic record in Argentina. These selected papers of the 11th Argentine Paleontological Congress include micropaleontological studies on material of different geological ages from several sites in Argentina and Colombia. The authors highlight several geological findings and explain the paleoenvironmental changes in Argentina and Colombia.

Foreword.-Introduction (Gabriela Cusminsky, Emiliana Bernasconi and Andrea Concheyro).- Chapter 1 Biofaciological zonation of recent benthic foraminifera along a tropical Pacific Colombian shelf-to-slope bathymetric gradient (Ballesteros Prada and Daniel Rincón).- Chapter 2 Modern benthic foraminifera of the Panamá Bight: A census report based on Thanatocoenoses from the continental slope (Daniel Rincón and Ballesteros Prada).- Chapter 3 Late Pleistocene paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic changes in southern Buenos Aires province, Argentina: evidence from diatom and sedimentary records (Espinosa Maria A., Beilinson Elisa, Mari Florencia, Tomassini Rodrigo, Gasparini German, Rabassa Jorge and Zárate Marcelo A.).- Chapter 4 Turonian Danian Zonation: Foraminifera and Calcareous Nanoplancton, Palynologic Correlation in the Luna and Umir formations -Middle Magdalena Valle Basin, northern Colombia (Navarrete Rosa E., Perez Panera Juan P., Parra Francisco J., Daza Diana, Sánchez Christian, Prince Mario, and Rodriguez Manuel).- Chapter 5 Turonian Santonian Zonation: Calcareous Nanoplancton and Foraminifera, Dinoflagellates Correlation in the Luna Formation -Middle Magdalena Valle Basin, northern Colombia (Pérez Panera, Juan P., Parra, Francisco J., Navarrete, Rosa E., Sánchez G., Christian, Daza R., Diana, Rodriguez, Manuel, and Prince S., Mario).- Chapter 6 Calcareous microfossils (Ostracoda and Foraminifera) of the MIS 1 in its innermost sector, Rio Salado Basin (Canal las Escobas Formation, Pila, Argentina) (Ramos, Nicolás Andrés, Carignano, Ana Paula, Cusminsky, Gabriela and Fucks, Enrique).- Chapter 7 Danian calcareous microfossils (Ostracoda, Foraminifera and Nannofossils) from Ombucta x-1 well, Colorado Basin, Argentina (Hiriart, L., Carignano, A.P., Cuciniello, D., Ronchi, D. and Angelozzi, G.).- Chapter 8 Late Miocene foraminifera and ostracoda, from Cajon valley, Catamarca, Argentina(Zamudio, M. Belén and Morton L., Susana).- Chapter 9 A new microfaunistic record (Foraminifera and Ostracoda) from the Late Quaternary of Salinas del Bebedero, San Luis, Argentina: paleoenvironmental implications (Calvo Marcilese, L., D'ambrosio, S., Rojo, L., Chiesa, J.O. and Cusminsky, G.C.).- Chapter 10 Late Cretaceous – Cenozoic Biostratigraphy and Palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of the Salado and Punta del Este Basins, Argentine continental margin (Pérez Panera, J.P., Ronchi, D.I., Angelozzi, G.N., Calvo Marcilese, L., Tórtora, N., Calaramo, J.P., Lovecchio, P.R., Kress, Frieling). Conclusion.- References.
Dr. Gabriela Cusminsky is known as a brilliant geologist and paleontologist. She is a regional and world authority in both marine and terrestrial forams and ostracods. Cusminsky finished her postdoc studies at the University of Wales at Aberysthwyth.
