Couverture de l’ouvrage Raman Fiber Lasers

This book serves as a comprehensive, up-to-date reference about this cutting-edge laser technology and its many new and interesting developments. Various aspects and trends of Raman fiber lasers are described in detail by experts in their fields. Raman fiber lasers have progressed quickly in the past decade, and have emerged as a versatile laser technology for generating high power light sources covering a spectral range from visible to mid-infrared. The technology is already being applied in the fields of telecommunication, astronomy, cold atom physics, laser spectroscopy, environmental sensing, and laser medicine. This book covers various topics relating to Raman fiber laser research, including power scaling, cladding and diode pumping, cascade Raman shifting, single frequency operation and power amplification, mid-infrared laser generation, specialty optical fibers, and random distributed feedback Raman fiber lasers. The book will appeal to scientists, students, and technicians seeking to understand the recent developments and future trends of this promising and multifaceted technology.

Preface.- 1 High Power Raman Fiber Lasers.- 2 Cascaded Raman Fiber Lasers.- 3 Mid-Infrared Raman Fiber Lasers.- 4 Infrared Super-Continuum Light Sources and their Applications.- 5 Specialty Raman Fibers.- 6 Distributed Feedback Raman and Brillouin Fiber Lasers.- 7 Random Distributed Feedback Raman Fiber Lasers.- Index.
Dr. Yan Feng is currently a professor at the Shanghai Institute of Optics and fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He got his Ph.D. degree from the Physics Department of Nankai University, Tianjin, China, in 2000, and spent two postdoctoral stays at Institute of Physics, CAS, and Institute for Laser Science, University of Electro-communications, Japan, respectively. From 2005 to 2009, he was a laser physicist at the European Southern Observatory, and developed a Raman fiber amplifier based sodium guide star laser. He joined SIOM in 2010 under the support of CAS's 100-talent program. He works on fiber lasers and nonlinear photonics for scientific applications. His research interests include Raman fiber lasers, single frequency fiber amplifiers, laser development for astronomy and atom physics, and manipulation of nonlinear optical effects in optical fibers. He has made pioneering contributions to the power scaling and wavelength expanding of Raman fiber lasers, andto the development of fiber-based guide star lasers.

Provides a comprehensive reference to a versatile technology for generating widely tunable high power light sources Explores diverse applications of this future laser technology in science, defense, and environmental sensing Represents the first reference on the interesting and useful properties of Raman fiber lasers Contains contributions by experts from around the world
