microRNA: Medical Evidence, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2015 From Molecular Biology to Clinical Practice Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology Series, Vol. 888

Langue : Anglais

Coordonnateur : Santulli Gaetano

Couverture de l’ouvrage microRNA: Medical Evidence

This volume explores microRNA function in a wide array of human disorders, providing a clinical basis for precision medicine and personalized therapies using these molecules. The twenty-one chapters, all authored by internationally-renowned experts, open with an introduction contextualizing microRNA manipulation within today?s initiatives towards precision medicine. The following chapters explore the clinical role of microRNAs in the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic and cardiovascular disorders, focusing on mitochondrial fitness, arterial hypertension, cardiovascular remodeling, cerebrovascular disease, pulmonary hypertension, diabetic kidney disease, and kidney transplantation. The subsequent chapters discuss the importance of microRNAs in the wound healing process and in skin disease, in the pathogenesis of allergy, in human ovulation, and in infection. The book concludes with chapters  which outline the emerging role of microRNAS in doping and detail microRNA profiling.

microRNA: Medical Evidence is an ideal companion to both microRNA: Basic Scienceand microRNA: Cancer. Taken together, these three books provide a state-of-the-art overview of this rapidly-expanding and fascinating field, from the

molecular level to clinical

practice. It will be invaluable to medical students, physicians, and researchers, as a complete and unique guide in the exploration of microRNA in basic science, cancer and clinical practice.

Dr. Gaetano Santulli received his MD and PhD at the University of Naples “Federico II”. A physician scientist, Dr. Santulli completed his postdoctoral training at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, supported by an AHA fellowship and a Scientist Development Grant. Cardiologist, he authored more than 100 publications, including peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals, book chapters, and medical books. He is currently a faculty member of Columbia University. He lives in Manhattan.

Dr. Santulli’s expertise comprises both clinical and basic research topics, including hypertension, diabetes, angiogenesis, heart failure, arrhythmias, vascular disorders, and skeletal muscle disease. He is a member of several international academic societies, including New York Academy of Sciences, American Heart Association (AHA), American Diabetes Association, European Society of Cardiology, Endocrine Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, European Association of Heart Failure, European Association of Echocardiography, Acute Cardiovascular Care Association, European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions. He serves on the Editorial Boards of numerous medical Journals.

Provides systematic and extensive discussion of microRNA's clinical applications Chapter authors are distinguished experts in each clinical field and are from prominent universities and institutions Focuses on innovative applications of microRNA in developing selective therapies in several disorders and does not focus primarily on cell proliferation and cancer making it somewhat unique among the literature
