Langue : Anglais

Coordonnateurs : SINGH RAJENDER, Singh Kiran

Couverture de l’ouvrage Male Infertility: Understanding, Causes and Treatment

This book covers the latest research on male infertility. The topics discussed range from understanding the genetic basis of infertility, to its causes and treatment. Since infertility is also of great interest to the general public, the book also includes a detailed description of what infertility is and how one can understand the different types. Given the complex etiology of infertility, the book includes a number of chapters defining the known and probable causes of male infertility. Providing detailed information suitable for patients and clinicians alike, it also features a separate section on treatment, the ultimate goal.

Section-A Understanding spermatogenesis and male fertility.-  1. Overview of the male reproductive system.- 2. Embryonic development of testis.- 3.HPG axis: The central regulator of spermatogenesis and male fertility.- 4. Sperm maturation in epididymis.- 5. Sperm Capacitation: The obligate requirement for male fertility.-6. Genomic landscape of human Y chromosome and male infertility.- 7.Seminal decline in semen quality in humans over the last 80 years.- Section-B Causes of male infertility.-8. Evaluation of an infertile male.-9. Syndromic forms of male infertility.-10. Cycstic fibrosis, CFTR gene, and male infertility.-11. Oxidative stress and male infertility.-12. Obesity, spermatogenesis, and male infertility.-13. Sexually transmitted infections and male infertility – old enigma, new insights.-14. Cytogenetic factors in male infertility.-15. Autosomal genes in male infertility.-16. Sex chromosomal genes in male infertility.-17. Male infertility: An epigenetic perspective.-18. Sperm chromatin compaction and male infertility.-19. Proteomics of male infertility.- Section-C Management of  male infertility.- 20. Advancing paternal age  The ticking biological clock.- 21. Food, nutrition, and male fertility.-   22. Plant products in the management of male infertility.- 23.  Life style, fertility, and infertility management.-24. Dr Rajender Singh, PhD, is a senior scientist at the Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow. He completed his doctoral studies at the prestigious Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad. His research interests include understanding the causes and developing modalities for the treatment of male infertility. His work has been recognized by a number of prestigious scientific bodies in the form of the Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award in 2015 from D.Bt.; Young Scientist Award from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in 2014; Young Scientist Award from the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) in 2012; and the Young Scientist Award from the Indian National Scientific Academy (INSA) in 2011. Dr Singh has more than 100 research articles to his credit..

Dr Kiran Singh, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Molecular & Human Genetics, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, where she completed her doctoral studies at the Cytogenetics Laboratory. A major focus of her research is on reproductive health, particularly on elucidating the molecular genetic mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of human male infertility and early miscarriage. Her efforts have led to the discovery of many novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for these medical conditions. Dr Singh’s research contributions have been widely cited and recognised, e.g. with the Prof N.R Moudgal Young Scientist award from the Indian Society for Study in Reproduction and Fertility (ISSRF). She has published 55 research articles in peer-reviewed national/international journals, and serves as an editor for many prominent journals. Further, she is a life member of many societies like the ISSRF, ISHG, SRBCE and ISCB.
