Guideline for acoustic emission testing of pressure equipment (2nd Ed.2009 with erratum nb 1 dated June 2011) (D370)

Within the framework of AFIAP, the "Acoustic Emission Group" has prepared the 2nd reference document relating to AE testing which describes the methodology from definition of application procedures to the interpretation of the results, entitided "Guideline for AE testing of pressure equipment". The guideline incorporates the requirements form the available standards and the experience of this test practice acquired by skiled workers.

It includes general items and annexes, each of them is applicable to a type of equipment (spheres, small buried tanks..). It comes out at the time of entering into force of the new regulations applicable to pressure equipment, modified decree of December 13, 1999 and enforcement Order of march 15, 2000. It should make it possible to facilitate the use of acoustic emission especially in the case of requalification of particular equipment by pemitting the replacement of some hydraulic proof tests by hydrostatic or pneumatic tests monitored by acoustic emission.
