Couverture de l’ouvrage Atkins' Physical Chemistry
Atkins' Physical Chemistry is widely acknowledged by students and lecturers around the globe to be the textbook of choice for studying physical chemistry. This International Edition has been carefully developed to provide the information, explanation, and guidance you need to master the subject. Organized into discrete Topics to break down the material, and grouped into overarching Focuses to show the bigger picture, the international edition of Atkins' Physical Chemistry is closely matched to the needs of both lecturers and students. Extensive mathematical support includes 'Chemist's toolkits', which provide students with succinct reminders of mathematical concepts and techniques, and detailed annotations of mathematical derivations, broken into clear steps with signposted 'physical interpretation' sections. Learning features thrughout the text, such as checklists of key concepts at the end of each focus, further support students in their study of the subject. The combination of the broad coverage, with the flexible and digestible structure, and use of learning features makes this international edition of Atkins' Physical Chemistry the textbook of choice for studying physical chemistry.
Peter Atkins is a fellow of Lincoln College in the University of Oxford and the author of about seventy books for students and a general audience. His texts are market leaders around the globe. A frequent lecturer in the United States and throughout the world, he has held visiting professorships in France, Israel, Japan, China, and New Zealand. He was the founding chairman of the Committee on Chemistry Education of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry and was a member of IUPAC's Physical and Biophysical Chemistry Division. Peter was the 2016 recipient of the American Chemical Society's Grady-Stack Award for science journalism. Julio de Paula is Professor of Chemistry, Lewis & Clark College. A native of Brazil, Professor de Paula received a B.A. degree in chemistry from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and a Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry from Yale University. His research activities encompass the areas of molecular spectroscopy, biophysical chemistry, and nanoscience. He has taught courses in general chemistry, physical chemistry, biophysical chemistry, instrumental analysis, and writing. James Keeler is Director of Teaching at the Department of Chemistry and Senior Tutor at Selwyn College, University of Cambridge. He is Editor-in-Chief of of the journal Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry, and immediate past-Chairman of the Royal Society of Chemistry's NMR Discussion Group.
