Progress of Geo-Disaster Mitigation Technology in Asia, 2013 Environmental Science Series

Langue : Anglais

Coordonnateurs : Wang Fawu, Miyajima Masakatsu, Li Tonglu, SHAN Wei, Fathani Teuku Faisal

Couverture de l’ouvrage Progress of Geo-Disaster Mitigation Technology in Asia
This book includes the recent 10-year achievement of geo-disaster mitigation by leading Asian scientists from Japan, China, Indonesia, Korea, Iran and Far East of Russia. Case studies on recent occurred geo-disasters in Asian region have been presented. The forming mechanics of hazards such as earthquake and landslide are deeply discussed, and the disaster mitigation technology for building and pipeline safety, landslide hazard assessment and risk management are introduced.
Damage by the 2011 Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami.- Geological prerequisites for landslide dams' disaster assessment and mitigation in Central Asia.- Social benefits of landslide prevention and mitigation in Hong Kong, China.- Advances of geo-disaster mitigation technologies in Taiwan.- The mechanisms for initiation and motion of Chinese loess landslides.- Geo-disaster and its mitigation in Nepal.- Hybrid socio-technical approach for landslide risk reduction in Indonesia.- Damage and recovery from the 1999 Chichi Earthquake in Taiwan.- Key factors influencing the mechanism of rapid and long runout landslides triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, China.- Strong ground motion prediction for scenario earthquakes.- Stability analysis of loess slopes based on reliability concepts.- Loess deposit and loess landslides on the Chinese loess plateau.
Prof. Fawu Wang is an Associate Professor in Disaster Prevention Section, Department of Geoscience, National Shimane University, Japan. He and his colleagues have published three books with Springer. Working on Engineering Geology and disaster prevention for near thirty years, he is an expert on disaster mitigation especially for rapid and long runout landslides.
Prof. Masakatsu Miyajima is a full professor of Earthquake Engineering in Department of Civil Engineering, National Kanazawa University, Japan. He conducted numerous field investigations after large scale earthquakes all over the world, and carried our systematic research on lifeline safety engineering.
Prof. Tonglu Li is a full professor of Engineering Geology in Chang’an University, China. He studied landslide for more than 20 years and good at the field investigation, and now is the Deputy Dean of the School of Geodesy and Engineering Geology in the university.
Prof. Wei Shan is a full professor of Forest Engineering and Engineering Geology in Northeast Forestry University. He studied geo-hazards in cold area for more than 30 years, and is an expert on disaster prevention in highway construction.
Prof. Teuku Faisal Fathani is a Associate Professor at Gadjah Mada University, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, in Indonesia.
