Langue : Anglais

Auteurs :

Couverture de l’ouvrage Fabrication and Processing of Shape Memory Alloys

This book showcases different processes of fabrication and processing applied to shape memory alloys. It provides details and collective information on working principles, process mechanisms, salient features, novel aspects, process capabilities, properties of material and unique applications of shape memory alloys. The recent progress on fabrication and processing are specially addressed in this book. It covers major topics of manufacturing such as machining, joining, welding and processing of shape memory alloys.

1.      Introduction to shape memory alloy

(Includes introduction to the shape memory alloy, types, super elasticity and shape memory effect, phase diagram, its applications, challenges for manufacturing, deformation mechanism etc.)

2.      Machining of SMAs

a.      Conventional machining

(Includes different challenges for machining operations such as tool wear, burr formation, properties changes, etc.)

b.      Non-conventional machining

(Includes different non-conventional processes such as EDM, WEDM, laser machining, etc. for process and properties)

3.      Welding and Joining of SMAs

a.      Fusion and beam welding processes

(Includes studies on FW, FSW, USW, diffusion bonding, resistance welding etc. for process, process variables, dissimilar materials, properties, microstructures, and applications)

4.      Processing of SMAs

4.1 Additive Manufacturing

                                                              i.      Selective Laser Sintering

                                                            ii.      Selective Laser Melting

                                                          iii.      Laser Engineered Net Shaping

                                                          iv.      Electron Beam Melting

(These additive manufacturing processes will be reviewed for process condition, process factors, microstructures, and applications)

4.2  Friction stir processing

4.3  Equal channel angular processing

4.4  High pressure torsion

(These processing processes will be reviewed for process condition, process factors and properties)
