Couverture de l’ouvrage Energy
Expanding on the first edition, ?Energy: Production, Conversion, Storage, Conservation, and Coupling (2nd Ed.)? provides readers with a practical understanding of the major aspects of energy. It includes extended chapters with revised data and additional practice problems as well as a new chapter examining sustainability and sustainable energy technologies. Like the first edition, it also explores topics such as energy production, conservation of energy, energy storage and energy coupling. Written for students across a range of engineering and science disciplines, it provides a comprehensive study guide. It is particularly suitable for courses in energy technology, sustainable energy technologies and energy conversion & management, and offers an ideal reference text for students, engineers, energy researchers and industry professionals.

* Presents a clear introduction to the basic properties, forms and sources of energy

* Includes a range of supporting figures, tables and thermodynamic diagrams

* Provides course instructors with a solution manual for practice problems
Introduction: Basic Definitions.- Energy and Energy Types.- Mechanical Energy and Electrical Energy.- Internal Energy and Enthalpy.- Energy Balances.- Energy Production.- Energy Conversion.- Energy Storage.- Energy Conservation.- Energy Coupling.
Dr. Yaşar Demirel is currently on the faculty in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at University of Nebraska Lincoln. He received his PhD from the University of Birmingham, UK in 1981. His main area of work during the past 30 years has been energy science and thermodynamics, such as process design and optimization, techno economic analysis, sustainability analysis, equilibrium and nonequilibrium thermodynamics, and exergy analysis. He carried out research and scholarly work at the University of Delaware between 1999 and 2001 and worked at Virginia Tech as a visiting Professor between 2002 and 2006 before joining the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2006. He is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Thermodynamics. Dr. Demirel authored and co-authored four books, two book chapters, and more than 100 research papers in reputed international journals.
Targets diverse audiences from science and engineering by effectively providing the basics, including more than 130 examples and 600 practice exercises Presents a comprehensive approach toward ‘energy’, covering the five interrelated aspects of production, conversion, storage, conservation, and coupling Offers an objective approach toward renewable and nonrenewable energy resources with global projections Provides source materials including a solution manual for instructors, tables, and figures Includes supplementary material: sn.pub/extras Request lecturer material: sn.pub/lecturer-material
