Couverture de l’ouvrage 9th WCEAM Research Papers
Engineering asset management encompasses all types of engineered assets including built environment, infrastructure, plant, equipment, hardware systems and components. Following the release of ISO 5500x set of standards, the 9th WCEAM addresses the hugely important issue of what constitutes the body of knowledge in Engineering Asset Management. Topics discussed by Congress delegates are grouped into a number of tracks including strategies for investment and divestment of assets, operations and maintenance of assets, assessments of assets condition, risk and vulnerability, technologies and systems for management of asset, standards, education, training and certification. These proceedings include a sample of the wide range of topics presented during the 9th World Congress on Engineering Asset Management in Pretoria South Africa 28 ? 31 October, 2014 and complements other emerging publications and standards that embrace the wide ranging issues concerning the management of engineered physical assets.
Supply Market Risk Management in the Context of Engineering Asset Management Management.- Application of a performance - driven TCO evaluation model for physical asset management.- Government Entity Contribution to an Effective Partnership Privatisation.- Implications of Cadastral Systems on Engineering Asset Management.- A Decision Support Framework for Prioritization of Engineering Asset Management Activities under Uncertainty.- Planning Rehabilitation Strategy of Sewer Asset using Fast Messy Genetic Algorithm.- Methods and tools for sustainable manufacturing networks – results of a case study.- A Modeling Approach for Infrastructure Evaluation from Customers' Viewpoints: Using Sewer Systems as a case study.- The Interface Challenge in Risk-based Asset Management.- Lean Approaches in Asset Management within the Mining Industry.- Integrating Tacit Knowledge for Condition Assessment of Continuous Mining Machines.- Extraction of Principal Components from Multiple Statistical Features for Slurry Pump Performance Degradation Assessment.- Fault Detection of Wind Turbine Drivetrain Utilizing Power-Speed Characteristics.- Maintenance Method based on Risk Estimation for 170kV Pneumatic Type Gas Insulated Switchgear.
Joe Amadi-Echendu is a Professor of Engineering and Technology Management at the University of Pretoria. Joe’s considerable experience is underpinned by his doctoral research in digital signal processing, condition monitoring and diagnostic engineering management of physical plants and processes. Joe has worked in industry as a technician, engineer, project manager, systems analyst, managing consultant and practice director and was latterly involved in the implementation of “operational readiness” programmes for greenfield capital development in metals processing and gas liquefaction projects. Professor Amadi-Echendu has published extensively with numerous contributions to international conferences, journals and books and received a number of awards including the ISA England Section Distinguished Service Award. He is a registered professional engineer in both United Kingdom and South Africa, Editor-in-Chief of Springer’s Engineering Asset Management Review Series, a Visiting Fellow at University of Greenwich, a member of the national IEC committee as Chairman TC50, as well as PC251 committee of Standards South Africa, Founding Fellow and Board Member of International Association for Engineering Asset Management, Founding Director of Institute of Engineering, Technology and Innovation Management at University of Port Harcourt, a current member of the Board of Directors of the International Association for the Management of Technology and served as the President of Southern African Maintenance Association from 2003 to 2005.
